Project
Dounreay Nuclear Decommissioning

The Project
Repositioned Nuvia as a collaborative legacy partner on a £250m remote nuclear decommissioning programme, tying technical delivery to lasting social value.
Summary
Nuvia was clearly positioned as a collaborative and forward-thinking partner, giving the client confidence in both delivery and long-term programme outcomes.
The decommissioning of Dounreay Nuclear Power Station is one of the UK’s most complex and sensitive programmes, delivered in a remote location on the north coast of Scotland.
For the client, the ambition extended beyond decommissioning. The programme needed to support a long-term transition for the local workforce, including future opportunities in sectors such as space exploration. This created a broader challenge for bidders.
Technical compliance was essential, but it would not be enough. The submission needed to demonstrate how delivery would work in practice, how collaboration would be managed across multiple contractors, and how the project would leave a lasting legacy for the local community.
The risk was that bids would focus heavily on technical delivery, without fully addressing how these wider objectives would be achieved.
Vision TDM repositioned the submission to respond to this wider context, presenting Nuvia not just as a capable contractor, but as a collaborative partner within a complex delivery environment.
Rather than being treated as a standard requirement, the submission clearly set out how Nuvia would work alongside other contractors to share resources, coordinate logistics and operate effectively within the constraints of a remote location.
This gave the client confidence that delivery would be coordinated, efficient and resilient in a multi-contractor, remote environment.
At the same time, we ensured the bid addressed the longer term ambitions for the region. Social value was repositioned as a core outcome of the programme, clearly demonstrating how the project would support the local workforce, create opportunities and contribute to a sustainable future beyond the life of the project.
We ensured these themes were reflected consistently throughout the submission, aligning technical responses, delivery strategy and community engagement into a clear and credible narrative.
The result was a proposal that balanced technical assurance with a strong sense of partnership, legacy and long-term value.
Nuvia was clearly positioned as a collaborative and forward-thinking partner, giving the client confidence in both delivery and long-term programme outcomes.
